Ian‘s career has been one of leadership, service and volunteering aimed at solving practical problems and making the world a slightly better place. He is standing as the candidate for Malmesbury and hopes to bring his skills and experience to the service of the people of this historic town.
Originally a design engineer in the car industry, he served for 37 years as an Army officer, both regular and reserve, seeing operational service in Saudia Araba, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, and Afghanistan, and was mobilised for the Covid-19 pandemic. He runs a small consulting business specialising in organisational culture change.
Brought up with a keen respect for tradition, personal freedom, and service, he joined the Conservative Party over 20 years ago at the same time as he moved to Wiltshire. He became Chairman of the West Wiltshire Conservative Association before moving to North Wiltshire, initially to Corsham and now Malmesbury. He is a father, grandfather, occasional charity cyclist, budding gardener and woodturner. He chairs the Craft Committee of the Worshipful Company of Turners.
