Part time Political Assistant and Administrator
South Cotswold Conservative Association
Role description
The South Cotswolds Conservative Association is looking for a part-time political assistant and
administrator, who has excellent communication and organisational skills and a personable disposition.
The ideal candidate will have flexibility in handling varying day-to-day routines as well as ad-hoc and
unexpected tasks.
The successful applicant will provide strong, reliable support for the association by creating and
implementing procedures and communicating as and when required to the Management Team,
Executive Council members and the wider Membership base.
Location: Watermoor Point, Cirencester.
Days/Hours: 3 days per week. 24 hours per week
Remuneration: £26k pa pro rata
Objectives of this role
• To support the officers of the association to communicate our successes and grow our reach
across the South Cotswolds constituency
• To streamline communications and respond to requests and questions about campaigns and
association activities such as fundraising, training and meetings.
• To support branches and clubs within the association to organise venues, events and
communications in conjunction with their fundraising activities.
• To work alongside county organisers and association officials to coordinate cross county
campaigns and communicate with candidates.
Responsibilities
• Administration - Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling appointments,
meetings, and events; maintaining file systems; carrying out mailings; and working with the Deputy
Chair Membership to ensure our VoteSource back-office system is accurately updated.
• Support - Carrying out the role of Secretary to the Executive Council including writing agendas and
minutes
• Media - Producing press releases and drafting copy for political literature
• Social media -drafting social media content and producing graphics
• Office - Ensure office efficiency by maintaining common areas, greeting visitors, organising
processes, handling correspondence, managing file systems, and overseeing supplies and
equipment, manage supplier relationships.
• Finances – work closely with Treasurer and Deputy Chairman – Membership to provide regular
updates on income and expenditure.
Required skills and qualifications
• Experience in administration.
• Strong time-management and people skills, degree of flexibility, and excellent multi-tasking ability.• Proficiency with MS office applications, word processing, WhatsApp and basic graphics software
and aptitude for learning new software and systems, such as Vote Source.
• Experience with databases and demonstrable proof of IT proficiency
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of Association information, especially membership records and
correspondence.
• The successful applicant will be sympathetic to Conservative values.
• There will be the requirement from time to time to work outside of normal office hours (for example
in fulfilling the obligations of being Secretary to the Executive Council, where meetings take place
in the evening. This can be taken as TOIL or by prior agreement, paid as overtime.
