Community News from Kemble: On Tuesday, the SCCA team - Tony, Rachel and James were out in Kemble to join other railway enthusiasts in celebrating the history of Kemble Station. Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, who is also Chairman of the Science Museum Group, which includes historical railways, and Mark Hopwood Managing Director of GWR, praised station staff Al Watkins and Sarah Bennet ffor their hard work and efforts in getting the exhibition ready with other Kemble railway memorabilia collectors, including relatives of previous station staff. Former Cllr Tony Berry, who was long involved in supporting the station said: “It was brilliant to see the history of the station brought alive in this way by the efforts of the whole community. This is local history at its best.” Rachel Roffe, who is Poppy Appeal Organiser for Kemble and District, also praised the efforts of everyone and said: “Al and the team here at the station, including Deidre at Off the Rails Cafe, have really made this a very welcoming place to be. We are also hugely grateful to GWR for hosting my RBL volunteers over the Poppy Appeal period, which helps us raise awareness as well as donations for this valuable cause. Thank you."
