’At the Cotswold District Council meeting on 18th January a local Conservative member of the public asked Lib Dem Council leader Joe Harris a question regarding an announcement by Lib Dem Cabinet member Rachel Coxcoon that she ‘wanted to stop tourists who live in America and the Far East coming to visit the Cotswolds in order to reduce their carbon footprint.’
Leader Harris accused the member of the public of ‘clutching at straws’ with his question.
Great to see that the Wilts and Glos Standard, Gloucester Live and the Swindon Advertiser disagree and are covering the story. Despite tourism being vital to the local economy, the Lib Dems appear to be anti tourism and anti business which is crazy.
Residents agree and are posting their views on line. Here’s a cross section of comments.
Cotswold Avenger: ‘ Deluded - they already want to charge motorists huge amounts to park, now they seem to want up put off tourists as well!’
Ciren wolf: ‘ This is possibly one of the most ridiculous things I’ve read about re our esteemed Council!’
Lawnrazer: ‘Of course our glorious council chiefs are not going to fly anywhere until their holidays, talk about ridiculous!’
So Cllr Harris - yet another example of your administration dictating and not listening to residents. Carry on the good work!
