The third and final member of the original Management Team at Cotswold District Council when the LibDems took over in 2019 has decided that early retirement is a better option and, sadly, has left the organisation. This team with some 70 years’ experience between them at CDC and who very successfully managed the council’s staff and your services have all gone with only a short or no continuity to help the new incoming Management Team.
The worst example of this latter point was when all the Democratic Services Team left which meant the new incumbents having to learn all by themselves what they were supposed to be doing! I’m glad to report that after some very difficult months they are now working well, but the initial disruption was considerable.
Add to this the answer to a recently put question to management that 65 people (or some 33% of the total headcount) had resigned since 2019 when normally one might expect somewhere in the region of 8 to 12% of staff to leave (including retirement and illness). No wonder service levels are dropping in some areas and morale seems at low levels.
